Dear Co-op Member:

Thank you for your interest in running for a position on the Community Food Co-op’s (CFC) Board of Directors. As we envision our future, we need Co-op members committed to serving our Co-op. Three General Membership Director positions will be voted on by the members during the 2024 election.

Applications for nominations to the election ballot will be reviewed by the Nomination and Process Committee and presented for approval at the regular April Board meeting. Candidates may also file to be nominated by petition by obtaining the signatures of at least fifty (50) CFC members in good standing and returning the petition as directed on the form, which is included in the information on the website..

In order to be considered for nomination in this year’s election, all candidates must complete the following by April 1st:

  • Meet the eligibility requirements as specified in the CFC bylaws.
  • Attend at least one regular Board meeting, March 14, or April 11, at 6:30 PM in the Co-op West Main large conference room.
  • Contact the head of the Board’s Nomination and Process Committee to arrange an interview (Susan Quarles – [email protected]).
  • Applications are available to download (available here).
  • Submit a photo (for the election materials) to Alison Germain at alison@bozo.coop

Available on the website are documents for you to review and a candidate application/bio for you to complete should you choose to run. Serving on the BOD is a challenging and rewarding experience. Please read the enclosed material carefully as it explains the duties and responsibilities incumbent upon a Director. Time commitments vary from as little as 8 to as many as 20 hours or more per month. Board members are eligible for a 20% working member discount during their term of service. Attendance is expected at:

  • all regular Board meetings (second Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM),
  • committee meetings (ongoing),
  • the General Membership Meeting(GMM), usually held in May or June,
  • the annual Board retreat (usually a weekend in October or November).

The annual general election for Directors will be held in June for 2024, closing at the General Membership Meeting to be held on June 18th. Results will be announced at that meeting and new terms commence July 1st. New Board members orientation period will begin following the GMM.

We welcome any questions you might have about how to proceed through the nominations process.

Cooperatively yours,

Nominations and Process Committee
