New at the Co-op! We now carry two products from Native Fish Keepers, a tribally-owned and operated business that supports native trout conservation. Managed by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of the Flathead Indian Reservation in Western Montana, Native Fish Keepers fisheries makes management decisions that integrate traditional knowledge and current science. They seek to protect native trout from threats, namely, the predation by non-native lake trout.
We are excited to carry their fillets of Lake Trout and Whitefish. Lake Trout are wonderful grilled, baked, or fried and resemble wild salmon in both taste and texture. Their whitefish fillets are white and flakey with a mild, delicate flavor.
Available while supplies last at Co-op West Main in our frozen seafood case.
