Job Location: Co-op West Main
Salary: $19.00 - HOUR

Two part-time positions available. Position 1: Starting time between 4pm and 6pm-midnight on Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday. Position 2: Starting time between 4pm and 6pm-midnight on Tuesday and Friday.

Purpose: Provide friendly, attentive and prompt customer service for customers while stocking and receiving groceries in an efficient and accurate manner.

Specific Responsibilities of Grocery Staff:

Customer Service

Maintain awareness of and acknowledge customers standing in line; proactively call for back up as needed.
Be familiar with Co-op policies and department products in order to better answer customer questions and complaints, referring unresolved questions or problems to a manager or shift supervisor.
Be informed about the benefits of membership and provide customers with membership materials as requested.
Help customers with placing and picking up special orders, as designated.

Stocking, Receiving and Merchandising

Ensure shelves/coolers are fully and accurately stocked, with awareness of product rotation, dating, shelf appearance, and facings.
Check coolers according to schedule and record temperatures in temp log; promptly communicate any irregularities to shift supervisors or managers.
Maintain efficient and orderly system for incoming deliveries following protocol; replenish shelves, endcaps, and floor displays, prioritizing promotional and fast-selling items.
Provide feedback to managers and Purchasers regarding mis-picks, out-of-date, damaged, and poor quality products.
Use appropriate logs to communicate potential inventory issues to managers.
Rotate overstock into back-stock. Maintain organization in storage area, using location signs as needed.
Ensure Grocery Managers and Purchasers receive shelf tag requests for missing, damaged, or outdated shelf tags.

Other

As directed, check out all purchases efficiently and accurately; ring prices and PLUs correctly and into the appropriate department. Fix any mistakes with the help of PIC or Managers.
Provide information to the Grocery Manager or Assistant Manager regarding price discrepancies.
Assist other cashiers with customer service tasks, i.e., bagging groceries, selling memberships and related paperwork, returns, special orders and carryout.
Comply with regulations regarding SNAP benefits/EBT cards, and alcohol sales.
Follow all safety procedures.
Maintain a high level of product and some industry knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Experience with customer service, retail sales or stocking desired, that demonstrates the ability or aptitude to successfully meet all expectations listed above.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. throughout shift, occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to lift product overhead and/or to climb ladders with product.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and to bend and twist repeatedly.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business; early mornings, daytime, evening, holidays, and weekend shifts may be required.
