COMMITTEE ITEMS THAT REQUIRE BOARD ACTION

2021 General Membership Meeting (GMM) and Board Election: Initial discussion of the date for the GMM, with a preliminary date of mid-June, and discussion of the nominations process and timeline.

GENERAL MANAGER’S REPORT

Kelly discussed the departments that have grown and developed customer loyalty since the start of the pandemic. The Board and GM discussed future planning for how both stores will use and maximize space and movement flow when we hopefully transition into a post-Covid economy, and to be proactive for future competition.

In the immediate short-term for October: CDT Deli will switch to a full-service hot bar to be Covid-compliant and fill a need downtown. CWM Deli will suspend made-to-order sandwiches for the time being, due to slower sales and difficulties in distancing for staff. Management invested in a rotisserie oven for the Production Kitchen, to have a greater number of roast chickens ready at one time and open up other possibilities for hot grab-and-go. Further discussion will continue at the January, 2021 Board meeting.

FINANCE

October 2020 Global sales topped $2.1M, vs just over $1.8M budgeted, with a growth of 9.5% over last year. Management received notice that our Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan will be fully forgiven. This was a very welcome confirmation and it puts us in a very strong cash position going forward. Management was able to repay member loan principal where needed and paid out a profitability bonus as well as member loan interest. October saw lower margin, as is typical, and also because lower margin departments are having high growth during Covid. The week leading up to Thanksgiving saw several departments hitting all-time highs in sales. Staffing continues to be very challenging because of quarantine requirements.
