Two part time positions available: Friday/Saturday 3pm-9:30pm and Tuesday/Saturday 3pm-9:30 pm. Purpose: Clean and deliver dishes to specific areas of the Coop with some cleaning and general busing duties as directed.

Job Location: Co-op West Main
Salary: $60000.00 - YEAR

Full-time, Exempt position. Salary DOE.

Provide vision and direction to the meat and seafood team to offer an outstanding customer experience through attractive and abundant merchandising and personalized customer service. Manage all aspects of the department to ensure effective and efficient operations and to meet objectives for sales, margin, labor, and service.

Supervises: Meat & Seafood Leads and Staff

Status: Full-time; Exempt

Specific Responsibilities of Meat & Seafood Manager

All management positions at the Co-op have leadership and personnel responsibilities such as hiring, training, scheduling, and staff development in addition to the specific responsibilities listed below.

Purchasing

  • Establish positive and trusting relationships with local suppliers, including site visits when possible.
  • Negotiate with suppliers for favorable prices and terms, quality, and delivery, following Co-op product guidelines.
  • Make purchasing decisions in consultation with the FS Director and FS Purchasing and Scan Specialists and with input from Meat & Seafood Leads and staff.
  • Oversee ordering to minimize out-of-stocks and overstock and maximize sales and turnover.
  • Research new products.
  • Ensure proper receiving by department staff according to established procedures and that the department obtains credit where applicable.
  • Assist the FS Scan Team as needed to review invoices for pricing and discount accuracy and maintain accurate inventory management.
  • Ensure the purchasing journal is accurate and kept current.
  • Assure compliance with all purchasing contracts.
  • Purchase local products whenever commercially viable.

Merchandising

  • Set stocking priorities for department staff and oversee stocking and rotation of cases to ensure fullness, freshness, and turnover, following department procedures.
  • Plan attractive displays and order sufficient merchandise to stock displays for the period of display; do periodic comparisons with competitors.
  • Monitor price labeling of department items and all other department signage to ensure it is accurate and up-to-date; communicate needed changes promptly to Food Service Scan Specialists.
  • Work with the marketing department to develop content and meet deadlines for marketing tools (website, fliers, ads, etc.) as directed.
  • Emphasize and support local agriculture through enhanced displays and selection.
  • Model and train accurate and efficient meat-cutting techniques, case setting, and merchandising for other staff.

Department Management

  • Ensure all staff adheres to food safety and sanitation guidelines of the Gallatin City-County Health Department.
  • Develop and maintain shift checklists; refine department training tools and systems.
  • Ensure proper storage, product rotation, and labeling procedures.
  • Conduct inventories as needed.
  • Schedule, assign, and oversee regular cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain a regular schedule for, and ensure maintenance of, all meat equipment and fixtures.

Qualifications

  • Meat and Seafood or Food Service management strongly preferred; experience which demonstrates the ability or aptitude to successfully meet all expectations listed above required.
  • Purchasing experience preferred, handling and cutting of meat and seafood products required.
  • Experience working with email and MS Office software sufficient to communicate and prepare reports with accuracy and in a timely manner required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business; some early mornings, evenings, holidays, and weekend shifts may be required.
  • Ability to work in a cold environment for up to two hours at a time.
  • Forklift and high-bay stacker certification (Co-op will certify upon hire).
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. throughout shift, occasionally up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods, bend and twist repeatedly, lift product overhead and/or climb ladders with product.
  • Valid MT Driver's License.
