New Coolers at Co-op West Main
September 27, 2016
Pardon the inconvenience!
As you may have noticed, we are upgrading our coolers and freezers at Co-op West Main and replacing them with new, more efficient models.
So, What Makes Them (ahem) Cooler?
- The most notable difference boils down to efficiency. The new freezers and coolers will use about one third of the BTUs of the old cases. That's a significant energy savings and lower carbon footprint.
- In addition, the installation of superior LED lighting means less energy used.
- The new coolers also have doors, so less cold air will escape into the store. As a result, we will run the store heating system far less during the colder months of the year.
- We will have more capacity in each cooler, which means we can offer a larger selection of products for our shoppers. Look for new items!
New Cooler and Freezers Timeline
The project is currently underway and is expected to be completed October 8. Thank you for your patience as we complete this project.
Here is the expected timeline of installation (all dates are subject to change):
Install two new 12-foot, closed-door beer coolers along the north wall. The new coolers are expected to be cold, stocked and ready for shopping on Wednesday, September 28.
On Wednesday, September 28, we will install 24 feet of new freezer space (three 8-foot freezers) along the north wall, next to the beer cooler. It is expected to be stocked and ready on Saturday, October 1.
On Wednesday, October 5, we plan to install a new 12-foot, closed-door cooler on the west wall, which will keep all of the chill department items together. The smaller, 4-foot end cap cooler (which currently holds the single beers), will also be replaced and will hold salsas and hummus. It is scheduled to be complete on Saturday, October 8.
