Member Dividends Arrive March 15

March 13, 2018

You Earned It!

On March 15, our Co-op will disperse a total Dividend of $125,000.00 to 5,236 member owners. Letters are in the mail and member owners who earned a Dividend should receive a letter from the Co-op this week.

To receive a Dividend, members must have spent at least $542.92 between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017 (the fiscal year). The minimum Dividend was $5 and the maximum $340.03.

This Year’s Dividend

New this year, Dividends are attached to your membership. They must be redeemed at the cash register by June 15, 2018. There is no certificate or check this year.

Redeeming your Dividend is easy! It can be applied towards your transaction. If any remains, it can be used towards another transaction, put on a cash card, donated to the Gallatin Valley Food Bank or given as cash back.

Per law, members must redeem their own Dividend (we cannot allow partners or family members to do so).

If you are unable to make it to the store by June 15, contact Customer Service 587-4039 ext. 0 and we can arrange to have a cash card sent to you.

Didn’t Receive a Dividend Letter?

It’s possible you did not spend enough money to earn one.

Or we did not have your current address on file. If you think this is the case, stop by Customer Service Desk to check on your Dividend. While you are there, update your address with us for any future mailings.

What Are Member Dividends?

Member Dividends are fairly simple. As a member owner, the more you buy at the Co-op, the more you get back.

Dividends are a way for us to share profits with members while reducing our tax liability.

If our co-op keeps the profit, it becomes taxable income. We would prefer to return profits to the members in proportion to what they’ve spent instead. Dividends are not taxable income to members.

Will There Always Be a Dividend?

Not always. The Co-op Board of Directors decides on Dividends on a yearly basis, depending on whether the Co-op had a profitable year and if we have any large debts or expenditures.

Does My Dividend Expire?

All Dividends must be redeemed by June 15, 2018. After this date, they will be removed from memberships and we cannot look them up or apply them. Our tax preparers need all the Dividend info by that time to prepare our taxes.

You Own It

As a community-owned store, our success boils down to the patronage and support of our member owners. Thank you for your past and continued support!
