Figs Five Ways

Fresh, organic figs are 40%-off from August 16-29. Here are five simple (and fun!) ways to serve fresh figs.
Quarter figs then drizzle with balsamic vinegar and salt to taste. Toss the mixture and let it sit for at least 15 minutes. Cut a baguette into slices and toast them in the oven. Spread fresh goat cheese on top of the toasted crostinis, add a spoonful of figs and sprinkle with fresh ground pepper. Instead of goat cheese, you can also use blue cheese.
Figs and Crème Fraiche
Cut figs into halves or wedges. Serve next to a small dollop of crème fraiche topped with lemon zest or diced fresh mint. You can also dip fresh figs in mascarpone or Greek yogurt.
Figs and Ice Cream
Cut figs in quarters and serve with ice cream. Simple as that!
Take it up a notch with baked figs on ice cream. Cut figs in half, arrange them side up in a baking dish, sprinkle with salt and drizzle with honey and balsamic vinegar (two parts honey to one part vinegar).
Cover with tin foil and bake for 35-45 minutes at 375 degrees, until the figs are tender. When they are nearly done, taste the syrup and add more honey or vinegar to suite your taste. Serve them hot, warm or cold with vanilla ice cream.
Figs, Fresh Berries and Yogurt
Cut figs into halves or wedges and serve with fresh berries and Greek yogurt and a drizzle of honey. For an added crunch, add sliced almonds or granola.
Fig Pancetta Salad
Top fresh arugula (or any mixed greens) with quartered figs and diced, cooked pancetta or bacon. Drizzle with balsamic dressing.
