Co-op Purchases Three 4-H Hogs

Recently, our Co-op headed to the Big Sky Country State Fair to purchase three hogs at the Junior Livestock Market Sale.
The annual auction (held on July 21) featured 4-H livestock raised by area youth with proceeds benefiting the participants' agricultural and educational pursuits.
The Co-op bid on, and purchased, three locally-raised hogs by Lane and Sage Smart and Samantha Draeger. This is the third year the Co-op has purchased hogs at the sale.
Two of the hogs came from Sage and Lane Smart (pictured above), who raised their hogs without feed-grade antibiotics or growth hormones. The hogs had regular walks, a cozy shelter and a big mud bath. Earning from the hogs will go towards their college savings.
Dinner's on the Co-op
The Co-op and Pioneer Meats are hosting Dinner's on the Co-op, a fundraising event on Monday, October 2 from 5-8 pm.
Co-op guest chef Kelly Walunis will prepare a menu featuring the local pork and other fresh, seasonal ingredients. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us for this special meal, donating in whatever amount you are comfortable.
All proceeds from the event will go directly to the Cafe, helping them serve healthy, hot dinners to members of our community throughout the year.
