How to Shop the Co-op

You don’t have to be a member owner to shop here, but membership has benefits! Following is a list of effective ways to shop your Community Food Co-op.

Member Owner Specials

Each month, selected products have special prices for member owners only. They are listed at the Customer Service Counter and on shelf signs near the products.

Special Orders

Special orders allow our member owners and other customers to purchase items that we do not carry, as well as to purchase products in large quantities (a case or more).

Pre-order full bags or cases of product at a 10% member discount. Some brands of rice and soy beverages may be purchased at the case discount price without pre-ordering (staff at the Customer Service Counter have the information). Some exceptions apply.

Buying Bulk Foods

Save packaging and buy only the amount you need by buying in bulk. Here’s how:

  • Weigh your empty container on one of the available scales.
  • Record the weight of the container (labels are by the scales).
  • Record the PLU number from the product dispenser.

The cashier will deduct the empty container weight when ringing up the product. Free paper and plastic bags are available in the bulk section for your convenience. A variety of containers are offered for sale at and above the bulk nut-butter counter.

Re-Use Bags, Jars or Plastic Containers

We will take 5 cents off for every cloth or re-used grocery-bag, jar or plastic container that you bring in and re-use while shopping.

EATS and Senior Discounts

Member owners who receive disability payments from the government (Supplemental Security Income or other) can register for a 10% discount on purchases. Staff at the Customer Service Counter can tell you which paperwork is needed to register.

Farm to Market

Farm to Market is a Co-op created program that supplies consumers with local, fresh, seasonal goods, creates and retains revenue within the community, promotes sustainable agriculture and preserves open space.
