John Smith Ranch
John Smith

John Smith is the operator of a diverse ranch in Whitehall that provides the Co-op with local pork raised without hormones or antibiotics. John has been raising pigs in Southwestern Montana for 40 years and currently maintains a manageable herd of about 100 animals, all given free access to outdoor areas.

Using a custom nutrition program, his hogs are fed Montana-grown grains with five different feed plans (based on their development stage). Promoting sustainable business practices, John actively composts all of the animal’s waste.

In addition to being very involved in local 4-H programs and consultant work for developing specialty grains (many of which are being grown on his property), John’s ranch creates work opportunities in Jefferson County. The Co-op is proud to offer this line of delicious, high quality local pork.
