News from Amaltheia Organic Goat Dairy

Amaltheia Organic Dairy is excited about plans and events that have occurred this summer! We are finally reaching our goals of becoming totally sustainable and utilizing all by-products of the goat dairy and cheese making business.

The pork project with Amaltheia Sustainable products is in full swing with about 12 sows and lots of little, happy pigs eating the organic whey generated from the cheese. The compost business is prospering with many happy gardens in the Bozeman area growing nourishing vegetables! Some of the trails in Hyalite will soon have the compost along the paths.

Our neighbor, Bruce Wright, has certified 140 acres organic and is growing hay and grain for us. Our other neighbor, Tom Clark, and Melvyn have put into transition about 100 acres and Mel planted it and it has reaped some beautiful oat hay and barley.

Imagine 260 acres of fertile, organic land just 8 miles from Bozeman! We are hoping to get some vegetables growing by next spring and will sell organic produce to the co-op. We have many other sustainable projects in the works, and I will talk about them in the next blog.
