Are you passionate about local food? The Bozeman Winter Farmers’ Market is looking for a Market Manager for the remainder of the 2009-2010, 10 market season. It is a part time position and runs through April.

Market Manager Job Description

Part-time, 10-12 hours per week for the remainder of the 09-10 Bozeman Winter Farmer’s Market season, January through April.

Job Description:

The Bozeman Winter Farmers’ Market Manager position is a part-time position held for the months of August through April. The Market Manager will participate in all aspects of the farmers’ market and will report to a committee, who will set all market policies and job expectations of the Market Manager. The Market Manager will be expected to attend all markets and handle the day-to-day logistics of running the market.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Enroll all vendors and guide them through the application and licensing process
• Collect all vendor fees, keep records of these fees, and deposit fees as needed
• Track all records related to the market: participants, money, attendance,
• Participate in all markets: Arrive early enough to lay out vendor booth assignments, set up signs, etc. Ensure all vendors adhere to regulations
• Answer any questions from vendors and customers
• Confront any issues that arise during the market
• Operate market booth
• Clean up after market
• Work to incorporate food assistance programs into the market: WIC, EBT, Senior Citizens
• Serve as liaison between all parties involved in the market
• Identify opportunities for marketing
• Create marketing materials and submit for publication on a regular basis

Qualifications:

• Self-motivated
• Excellent communication skills with a wide range of people
• Experience within agriculture
• Ability to think creatively
• Passionate about year-round local food access
• Ability to demonstrate organizational, financial, and marketing skills

Compensation:

Depending upon start date and for the remainder of the 09-10 Bozeman Winter Market, $200.00 monthly stipend, plus a food basket at the end of each market from vendor donations. Additionally, an incentive based bonus may be available at the end of season, depending on how many vendors are recruited to attend the markets.
